Why can’t I book optional seat reservations on the eurail app

Note that the Eurail website adds 2€ fee per person per train. It's always cheaper to book through the railway company directly (or Rail Europe). Have a read of https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm
