nightjet Innsbruck

Hi fellow-travelers,

Me and my family have been enjoying interrailing for the last two years. We are making new plans for this year. Either just Italy again (this time try to reach the south with Bari or Brindisi) or Zagreb and northern Italy.

I started looking for the Nightjet to Innsbruck and found NJ421 that leaves from Amersfoort in the Netherlands, our country. But if I look correctly reservation of a 4 persons couchette om 19-7 will cost us € 224,60 (see screenshots) besides the Interrail ticket. Is that correct? We have done this the last two years, but this keeps on getting more and more expensive…

If anyone has any tips, happy to hear them. Thanks!

Hanno

Sadly those prices are "normal" yeah... Amsterdam-Zurich would be slightly cheaper at 199€.

On a more positive note: Amsterdam-Innsbruck is due to get new NJ2 carriages from mid-April. Your couchette compartment should be brand new. See https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/nightjet-new-generation.htm

It isn't guaranteed though so that's why they don't offer the new "mini cabins" yet.

Alternative option: get to Stuttgart during the day and board the Zagreb-bound EuroNight. A 4 couchette compartment costs 139€ on 19th July.

There's a direct morning ICE from Amsterdam and Utrecht, could be quite convenient. Then you've got the afternoon in Stuttgart.

I wanted to say to double-check if the price was per person, or for the whole group. Different booking websites show their pricing in different ways.
