Not in pass network

Just purchased a 5 day global pass. Headed from Venice to Paris we’re changing trains in Florence. The connecting train says “not in plan network “ Do I need to purchase a new ticket or is there just a fee added to my global pass?

thanks

On second thought, Milan - Paris is also served by Trenitalia (leaving from Milano Centrale) and they are not (yet?) accepting Eurail. You can buy normal tickets via www.trenitalia.com. There are also TGV trains Milan - Paris that accept Eurail, but the reservations are quite expensive (€31 in 2nd, €45 in 1st), so a normal advance ticket could be around the same price or just a little more expensive.

Yes it is cheaper to try to get a ticket of Trenitalia Frecciarossa from 29€.

Eurail/Interrail is still not accepted by Trenitalia France. You can use the train within Italy but not to/from France.

Interesting. The Rail planner app also says "not in pass network” for Milano - Torino. Where did you see/hear that a pass can be used there?

They can’t choose that the train doesn’t work only on French side, so all the train ride is marked as not in pass network. Like here on interrail.eu it says not in pass network, but it is possible to book it. But I must admit that I didn’t try to pay.

It should be possible to get till Modane with Interrail (but not bookable via interrail.eu), because the italian Frecciarossa tariff is till Modane. From Modane than you get the Trenitalia France tariff.

Thanks. @Nanja, are there plans to implement partial pass validity warnings? It looks like, with the way it is done now, the rail planner app and online timetable are providing incorrect information about pass validity in Italy.

Hi, thanks for flagging. I've passed it on to our reservation specialist to look into it. I will get back to you once I know more. Cheers,

Update: The Pass, at this moment, is not accepted on this route (also on the domestic part it is not). Unfortunately, in the old reservations tool it was not possible to block/exclude this connection. Luckily, in the new Reservation Timetable which is live as of today, it is blocked by the "not included in the Pass" attribute and cannot be added in the cart. So the issue should have been fixed now.
