Dear all: please help!

We bought Interrail Passes First Class, and booked amongst other the following trains:

Wednesday 17 April:     07.03 - Basel SBB > Lugano (IC 663)

Wednesday 17 April:     11.02 - Lugano > Milano Centrale (RE 25517)

Wednesday 24 April:     17.20 - Milano Centrale > Brig (EC 36)

Wednesday 24 April:     19.48 - Brig > Basel (IC 986)

But we can not buy/book our seat reservations for these 4 tickets.
We have tried everything, but it simply does not work. What to do?
Or do we not need these reservations? Are these maybe not required?

We only succeeded to book seat reservations for the train Milano > Roma and back.

Thank you,
Frits Strietman

Hi,

for the RE (Regio-Express) is a reservation not needed and not possible.

For the IC in Switzerland it is only optional. You can but you don't have to buy a reservation.

For the EC you need a reservation, bookable via raileurope.com and using Interrail as discount. It cost 15 Euro.

Yes reservations are a waste of money in Switzerland and most of the time not available, it’s not a thing here. Trains are long and have plenty of seats too, even more in 1st class (2nd class is expensive enough haha).

Just like in the Netherlands simply hop on and sit wherever you want. :)

Reservations for the way back should be available : Milan - Domodossola for 10€ (mandatory section) or Milan - Brig for 13€. Use RailEurope as advised.

Dear Angelo and Thibcabe,

Your guidance was most helpful. Thanks a lot!

Buenas noches

There are 2 ferries from Barcelona: to Civitavecchia and to Genova. You can get a discount with a pass.

From where to where do you want to travel? Spain and Italy are both quite big countries.
