Hai everyone,

We are from the travel committee of a small study association and we have some questions about buying a Flexi 4 day pass.

We want to travel from Utrecht (Netherlands), to Nice (France), Milan (Italy) and than back to Utrecht.

  • How does it work when booking for 25 people at the same time
    • We want to buy the passes with the 25% off, but we don't know who is coming with us yet, so we don't know the information
    • How can we reserve 25 seats all at once, to know we are all on the same train
  • We don't understand how to choose and reserve specific trains, we are leaving on the 10th or 11th of April.
    • How much is this exactly going to cost. We saw it was around 10 euros, but than immediately got hit with 34,- minimum

You have to enter the passenger name when buying a pass. There's no way around that.

As to booking pass reservations, please see this page:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

€10 is the minimum reservation price for a domestic reservation within France. International high-speed trains from/to France are often more expensive because SNCF. What the exact costs will be depends on which exact trains you will use.

To keep reservation costs t a minimum, you could use the EC or ECD to Antwerp, then an IC to Lille, and then a direct TGV to Marseille or Nice. (Most importantly: avoid the expensive Eurostar.) From Marseille, there are frequent fast regional trains to Nice, so no problem if you have to change in Marseille.

From Milan to Utrecht use a regional train to Lugano, then any train to Basel and further to Utrecht via Cologne. Reservations are optional in Germany, although I'd advise to book for such a large group.

Also check whether using passes is really the cheapest option. E.g. Chiasso to Utrecht can be booked on bahn.com as a group ticket. Milan to Chiasso is a cheap regional ticket.
