Hello! I’m trying to travel from Paris to Amsterdam, and although I have a ticket from using my pass, there are no 2nd class seats available. There are 1st class seats available, but I do not have the 1st class pass. We were told we are able to buy the 1st class seat reservation, but I’m not sure how that will work since we only have a 2nd class pass. Am I able to upgrade my pass for 1 time only? Will they charge me for a 1st class ticket although I have a 2nd class ticket? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Who told you you could buy a first class reservation? As far as I'm aware, there's no option to upgrade on this route. Your ticket wouldn't be valid.

If there's any availability, you could make a reservation to Brussels. Then get off and board the Eurocity Direct (no reservation needed, slightly slower) to Amsterdam.

Always mention date and preferred travel time and train you wanted to take in these cases.

There are plenty of alternatives to get to Amsterdam from Paris by train other than Eurostar, but we need a bit more details from you for good advice.
