6 day Greek Island Pass - can it be used in reverse?

Can one use the 6-day Greek island pass, which includes the possibility of a return trip from Italy to Greece (Ancona-Patras-Ancona), ‘in reverse’?

In other words, imagine one is already on a Greek island and uses the first travel day to reach Piraeus, the second travel day for Patras-Ancona, the third travel day for Ancona-Patras, and the remaining days for travel within Greece. Is this allowed?

Many thanks!

When you say that you need a travel day to reach Pireaus, are you then travelling from a Greek island by ferry? Otherwise you don't need a travel day toget to Pireaus, see below.

Hello AnnaB,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I would be starting from a Greek island and travelling to Piraeus, and then on to Patras, for the ferry to Italy.

My question is: if one already happens to be on a Greek island (not as a permanent resident of Greece) and one wants to use the 6-day island pass in effect to make a return journey to Italy followed by further trips among the Greek islands, is that possible? In my opinion, it should be.

I plan to use the ferry from Bari to Patras later this year using a 6 day Greek Island pass. I understand that the normal train connection to Athens is partly replaced by a bus service and FREE tickets are necessary to make the transfer by bus and train. According to the post of Anna above, those tickets are distributed by a local Hellenic train station after presenting the interrail pass. In my case Patras is my first station on Greek territory and there seems no more trains running since several years. So I suppose the local train station is closed. If so, how do I get those tickets especially for the Patras>Kiato section?

The train station in Patras is NOT closed. Trains are running on the local line. And even if no trains were running, there could still be an open ticket office for the replacement services.

Also keep in mind that the pass is your ticket and you only need a reservation (free of charge) for the replacement bus to Kiato.
