I am new to this, and want to be absolutely certain that I don`t get this wrong; when I buy a travle pass, I can use this pass to book tickets directly on the traincompanies websites, and with my Interrailpass code I will get redused prices for the reserved seats?

The pass is your ticket. You don't need to buy any additional tickets for trains included in the pass.

You'll need to book reservations for trains with mandatory resrevations.

You can book a reservation for a train with optional reservations.

Most trains though don't have any reservations, and you only need your pass.
