I am travelling from Avignon to Annecy with an Interrail global pass. Do I need to book seat reservations and if so how?
Thank you for any advice

Depends which itinerary you're taking. If it involves a TGV you must book seats (10-20€). Read the following guide: https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

If not required, simply add the train on Rail Planner and hop on.

The reservation-free itineraries include a connection in either Valence or Lyon Part-Dieu.

Yes we are changing at Valence and on the planner it doesn’t say we need reservations but wasn’t sure if we needed to to ensure a seat. Anyway thanks - we’ll just hop on.

If your journey in France doesn’t include TGV or intercité (IC), then your good to go without seat reservations. Just check the train numbers for the train you want to take.
