Booking from Barcelona to Lourdes

Hi All, I am new to Eurail and trying to book a seat reservation from Barcelona to Lourdes.  When I use the Eurail website, it shows the leg of the journey, and there are 4 different legs, with one leg requiring a reservation from Narbonne to Toulouse.  The rest of the leg states “You’re ready to Board.”  My questions are this:

  1. When I received my seat reservation in email, it only shows the one leg of the trip, but not the others.  How am I supposed to remember the original time that the train leaves on the leg that I don’t need the seat reservation? Is there an easy way to document the entire trip with all of the different legs on the website, or do I need to write them down?
  1. Some of the seat reservations are triple the other ones, but travel in the same amount of time and leave roughly at the same time.  Why are they so much more if there’s no benefit to riding them?

Thanks for any assistance with these questions.

Are you using the mobile pass?

If so, you need to add the trains you’ll take to ‘My Trip’. That’s what generates the QR code that is your ticket. Once you’ve done that, the times will show in your app.

If you’re using a paper pass, you should indeed note them down somewhere, and fill them in just before boarding.

2 - Cost of reservations does vary a lot. It just depends how greedy the train operator is, and how much they think they can charge. Generally the faster trains are more expensive, but it’s not always the case. There’s a good guide to the prices here, as well as good tips for avoiding the most expensive ones: https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

@mikebech

What is the date of your travel? If you travel in summer timetables are currently not available.

Thank you for this help, it is very useful.  I started using the app to create seat reservations and they are showing up in my planner.

For the trips that I created on the website, will the train operators accept a pdf on my phone, or do I have to print out the seat reservations and bring them with me?

Ironically, the first trip I booked using the phone app isn’t showing up when I select “View Ticket.”  Any idea why it’s the only one not showing?  It’s been 12 hours since I purchased it.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Do keep in mind that the app can't book reservations. It can only forward to some of the websites where you can book them, but unfortunately doesn't always mention the best website. The reservation page on seat61.com (see link above) is a much better guide and it will also point out the websites where you can book without paying Eurail's extra booking fees.

Additionally, there are no "trips created on the website”. They're reservations. Showing them on a screen is fine, except for some night trains.

As to the journey that isn't showing: booking a reservation does not do anything else than just that. In particular, it does not add the booked trains(s) to the trip in the rail planner app, which is something you always need to do separately. Pass and reservations are totally separate.
