Budapest - Ljubljana

We want to travel from ljubljana to budapest 19th of july.

As the direct train doesn't go in july we are looking for an other route.

Right now our best option looks to be 8:55 from budapest via Wien and Graz so we will be 17:37 in Ljubljana.

In Graz the transfer time is short, 5 minutes.

What do you think of this route and the short transfer time? Are there better options?

Thanks for your answer @runner.on.rails. Yes, i mean from Budapest to Ljubljana.

Which site tells you the train leaves at 08:40? Everywhere i look it's 08:55.

Do you think it's the best route?

It leaves from Kelenföld at 0855, which is quite a bit outside, while it starts at Keleti (the de facto main station; located near to the city center) at 0840.

I think it is the best option, as the connections with replacement bus are not remarkable faster, and in the end its a bus… But that is a matter of flavour...

Hi

You state two different travel directions. I assume you go from Budapest to Ljubljana, right?

your train to Wien leaves at 0840, not 0855.

This train from Wien to Graz is not too likely to get a delay, but if so, the connection to Ljubljana probably won’t wait. But the good thing is, there are direct trains Graz - Ljubljana every 2h. So if you miss it, just take the next. And maybe enjoy the opportunity for a speed sightseeing walk trough Graz.

And what about the replacement busses on the original direct train? From Veszprem to Zalaloevoe?

Interrail says seat reservations are required, but it's not possible to book seats.
