I have a couple of questions about the current process for claiming delays with Eurail.

  • I have submitted several claims over the past few weeks, but just received the standard reply saying it is has been received. Does anyone know how long it is taking to process currently?
  • The form asks for a screenshot of the ticket. Eurail has disabled this functionality so I have submitted the images with the QR code missing (using the option to allow screenshot in the app). Will this be accepted?

It depends a bit, sometimes you get it quasi immediately after two three days, sometimes it takes longer: a week, sometimes more.

Summer is peak season so I guess they have a lot of claims to process, with a bit less staff than usual (since they go on holiday themselves), so it takes a bit longer.

You can take a screeenshot normally of the “My Trip” tab, they can look in their own systems to see you have a pass bought with Interrail.

My latest claims are also taking longer. They have 30 days to respond and pay.

The screenshot of the ticket does not need to show the barcode. They need it to see the trains listed.

I think they must have hit a Summer peak in claims.

One claim I submitted at the start of July was paid in 3 days. The next took over 2 weeks. I have another one that’s 2 weeks and counting.

They usually send a holding message after a few days, to say it may take longer than usual.

The payment will come through eventually. They’ll contact you if they need anything else.

In February, I submitted a claim that was refunded on the same day. Now in July, it took about two weeks. It depends on the volume of requests, and this period is usually busier than off-peak times.
