Hello I am trying to book a private compartment for 4 people on night train. First on the OBB Night Jet website, I have put in the global pass discount but no discount is coming off the total price. When I try on the interail website it let's me select a 4 person berth but doesn't say if this is definitely private. Ie will we definitely be together just our family, not put in a bigger compartment with others. Please advice how to book a private compartment for 4 people on a night train getting the global pass discount. We are looking at travelling from Amsterdam to either Zurich or Munich. Any other night train advice welcome too as we've not done one before. 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 10. Thank you!

On a Nightjet, if you select "private compartment”, then there is no pass discount. However, if you book on tickets.oebb.at, you can see the place number before you pay and therefore see whether you're in the same compartment. Couchette numbers that start with the same digit are in the same compartment.

To book, add the Interrail/Eurail discount for all persons and do NOT check "Seat reservation only”.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately I tried this and there was no opportunity to see couchette numbers before paying and I’d still want to be sure that it was private, which just seeing the place numbers wouldn’t guarantee. I think we will have to pay the full price to guarantee we have a private compartment or travel in the day rather than on a night train as the full price on the night train is a lot with no discount.

At checkout click on Click here for service and price details, print timetable. You’ll then get something like this:

If that doesn’t work, mention travel date. Some dates are already sold out.

Amsterdam - Munich - Innsbruck has brand new carriages while Amsterdam - Zurich has older ones. Personal advice would be to continue all the way to Innsbruck for a proper night sleep, rather than a 6am alarm for Munich.
