e-ticket but seat reservations says full

This is our 2nd day of travel on eurail pass. We were able to turn on pass and have an eticket in our app but when we try to add seat reservations (seat reservations are not required), it says train is full. Can we still take this train? Last time we struggled finding seats that didn’t have reservations on it.

We are leaving from Koblenz, Germany on Friday, September 26 at 8:48am going to Munich. We realize this is a busy time. Oktoberfest in Munich, so we want to make sure we have seats. We have checked both 1st and 2nd class but it says train is full and will not book for reserve seating but we do have an eticket on the app.

You should never activate a pass in advance, especially not if you want to have a reservation.

For booking reservations, follow the advice on this website:

The 8:48 from Koblenz still has a few seats in 1st class, but no reservable seats in 2nd. There also are some unreservable seats marked "BahnBonus” in carriage 27 (2nd class, seats 92, 94, 96, 98, 101-118) and 28 (1st class, seats 46, 52-56).

@DavidB

Could you indicate us the route, the date and time of departure? Otherwise it is not possible to give an advice.

It is always possible to modify and delete the journeys in the Rail Planner app. If you do it the day before departure the travel day will not be used.

You will certainly find free seats if you change at an intermediate station, Seats are currently available in 1st class on this relation:

Koblenz 10:48 - Nürnberg 14:27

Nürnberg 14:50 - München 16:01

You can reserve on bahn.de.
