Eurail Pass & Seat Reservation Problem

I purchased a 4 day Eurail pass several months ago. I did not know that the pass needed to be activated. I then purchased several seat reservations, not knowing that they were not being applied to my pass. How do I fix this? Am I just out all the money I spent on seat reservations?

Instructions on how to use the pass, including activation, were in the conformation mail. Ans also here:

https://www.eurail.com/en/eurail-passes/eurail-mobile-pass/getting-started

However, you don't need to activate your pass to book reservations. In fact, it's not a good idea to activate your pass or a travel day in advance.

Any seat reservations you booked will be OK. There's nothing to fix.

Hello, no you don't need to activate a pass to buy reservations. You only need to activate the pass when you ride a train.

Where did you read this?

If you can write the trains, routes and where you have purchesed the reservation we can respond you if the reservation is ok.

Thanks! I have a 4 days within 1 month pass purchased in November 2024. I created a trip called “Italy 2025.” I then booked seat reservations for Milano Centrale to Vicenza, Italy, in May 2025 on Eurail App. But the seat reservations are not linked in any way to the Italy 2025 Trip i created. That’s where I’m confused. So when I board the train in May, do I just show the pass and the seat reservations?

That's how it works indeed.

Pass and reservations are not linked, or sometimes only by your name. In addition, reservations can be booked in lots of places (see this page for the best advice) and Eurail cannot know where you booked them if you didn’t book them through Eurail.

There is no connection between the pass and reservations.

Yes, you show both if asked.

Thanks! Last question. I purchased a 4 days within 1 month pass, but it appears that I will be traveling actually 6 days in a month - Milan to Vicenza; Vicenza to Florence; Florence to Salzburg; Salzburg to Nuremberg; Nuremberg to Rothenburg; and Nuremberg to Munich. Do I buy another pass to cover the days in excess of 4 that we will be on a train?

Another Eurail pass won't be good value. Buy tickets on 2 of those days.

For example Nuremberg-Munich by high-speed train costs around 20€ booked in advance.

Otherwise consider the Deutschlandticket: 58€/calendar month for free regional trains/buses and city transportation. More info here: https://www.seat61.com/train-travel-in-germany.htm#Deutschlandticket
