When using your Eurail pass for the discounts on Ferrys, does that count as a travel day?  Such as the overnight ferry from Barcelona to Civitavecchia.

You don't need a travel day for discount on ferry crossings, as is the case on the Barcelona-Civitaveccia one.

There are other exeptions: you do need an active travel day if they are free for passholders (eg BLS ferries in Swiss lakes), and also some which are free but where you have to pay quite a lot for port fees and other supplements.
