Hi everyone,

Regarding the decision between a first-class and second-class ticket, I’d like to ask you something.

I’ve been on several Interrail trips before, always traveling in second class. Now I’m considering purchasing a first-class Interrail pass. Next summer, I’d like to travel to Norway and Sweden, and I was wondering if any of you have experience with first class there. Do you think it’s worth it?

I did some research in the Rail Planner app beforehand, but I got a bit confused by the prices for seat reservations in first class on regional trains. Are they really free? Are there additional advantages of a first-class pass that make the trip more comfortable or possibly even save you money in the end? And what about food — do you get any benefits there as well?

Thank you so much for your help.

Have a nice day and a wonderful trip,
Lena

With a 1st class pass, reservations in Norway are free if you book on entur.no.

For Sweden, book reservations on sj.se. Don't book reservations via Interrail, you'll pay too much.

In Norway the reservation is indeed free for first class pass holders and you get free water and hot drinks.
