In General, passes can be activated up to 11 months after purchase. No worries.

You can buy, activate and use a pass in a single day.
Just follow whatever the instructions are on screen.
But this pass has already been bought half a year ago.
That's no problem. Just activate it if you need to use it today.

Only if you are travelling today, or if it is the last day to activate the pass, and you will be travelling later during the validity, you should activate the pass today.
