Search for the connection between Bologna and Amsterdam in the DB app. You don't have to pass neither Freiburg nor Strasbourg.

They're both interesting cities. I assume you mean Freiburg in Germany, not the one in Switzerland.

I find that Fribourg/Freiburg in Switzerland is more interesting than Freiburg in Germany, unfortunately you have now replacement buses for 2 months between Bern and Fribourg.

I don't know the Swiss version yet, so I don't have an opinion on which one I like better :)
