Geneva to Domodossola

An itinerary was previously suggested to me for a route from Geneva to Naples, the first leg of which is Geneva to Domodossola.

I am trying to book this.  Firstly, I thought because the journey starts in Switzerland, there would be no reservation fee.

Bahn.de shows a fee of €5.20 each, but I cannot proceed with the purchase,  i cant buy on obb and Rail Europe states seat reservation is to be bought at the station, quoting no fee.

Firstly, how do i buy at the station?  We arrive in Geneva the night before, so could we buy it then, or must it be purchased on the day?

Are there normally queues at the ticket offices at 7:00am, or are they even open?

My language skills are basic, so being able to buy with minimal conversational interaction is preferable, which is why i wanted to buy online

Advice would be appreciated, thanks.

It’s an unhelpful message from Rail Europe, for sure. ’

Yes, you can just add the train in the Eurail app and jump on. ReservationsReservations aren’t necessary, and in fact they’re more trouble than they’re worth.

From Geneva to Domodossola, reservations are optional.

Oh, right.

I was just a bit confused by the results page where most trains stated included in pass, but the train I want says reservations must be bought at the station.

So, basically, if I get on the train with just my global pass, all will be good?

Enter the train as a journey in your Trip in the Railplanner-app, activate the journey and then just board the train.
