Global pass: 2/4 travel days but 0/3 outbound//inbound?

Hello everybody!

I purchased an interrail global pass for one month with 4 travel days. After travelling from my country of residency, Switzerland, to Italy and getting back, the pass shows that I have used 2 out of 4 travel days, but also that 0/3 inbound/outbound days are used. So here I am a little bit confused: first, why do I have three inbound/outbound days instead of two? And second, how is it possible that the app registered the two travel days correctly, but does not mark the in- and outbound trips as well?

And what does this mean for the 2 travel days I have left? Can I travel in and out of Switzerland again?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best,

Gianna

There's a pilot going on and Swiss residents belong to the lucky ones who get an extra in/outbound day:

As to why you haven't used any of them: what journeys with your pass from a Swiss station did you make?

Hey, thanks for the clarification and for sending the link! As for your question, I travelled from Basel SBB to Foggia (Puglia) and back.

By any chance, did you take a direct Basel SBB - Milan EC? Then inbound/outbound days aren't counted (it's a bug as Basel SBB is a border station but with France only...).

Maybe related to the fact that Chiasso and Domodossola are also border stations? But still a bug of course.

Thanks to both! Yes it was indeed a direct connection to Milano Centrale! Alright, so the mystery is solved :)

Does that mean that I could technically travel in and out of Switzerland with the two remaining travel days?

It probably does. You can test that by activating the future journeys you intend to make. If the app needs an inbound or outbound, it will say so. If you can then activate both journeys, then it should work. After the test, it's best to cancel your future travel days again.
