Help with Eurail Pass – Seat Reservations and Tips

Hi everyone, I’m planning to travel around Europe soon with a Eurail Pass and I’m a little confused about seat reservations. Do I need to book them in advance for all trains, or just high-speed and overnight ones? Also, what’s the easiest way to make reservations if I’m traveling across multiple countries? Any tips to avoid extra costs or surprises would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Most trains don't have reservations.

Some trains have optional reservations. It's your choice to book them or not.

Some trains have mandatory reservations: mostly night trains and high-speed and/or long-distance trains in some countries.

If you want to avoid extra costs, then avoid booking reservations via Eurail. They add a €2 booking fee per person and train.
