I’m actually planning my trip right now and I wanted to ask something just to be sure. I’m planning to visit an Italian friend during my trip and I’ll be staying to her place in Padova. We’re planning to go to cities near hers. So I wanted to know if for example I go from Padova to Venice and in the same day go back to Padova it’ll still count as 1 day of traveling right?

Yes, you can do as much traveling as you like on one travel day.

On each travel day (00.00-23.59 CET) you can board as many trains as you like so your travel from Venice to Padova and back will be one travel day.
