How to receive paper tickets or electronic train tickets.

Traveling from Hungary to Slovenia and this popped up (“Sorry, we can't deliver your paper tickets to this address on time. Please try another address or book at a main station.” ) The program  will not let me complete my transaction. I read that it is not a good idea to have tickets sent to the hotel. How can I receive paper or electronic tickets? It does not give me this option. I will be traveling in 3 weeks. Thank you to anyone willing to share their knowledge with me : )

Thank you Marvin for reaching out. Yes, we want to book on the eurail train 1246 We are traveling on the night train from Budapest - Keleti station and going to Ljubljana, Slovenia. We want to book a sleeper bed and we are unable to book this ticket because it is asking us for an address in which to send our tickets. We are traveling from the US.

You can book these reservations and get an e-ticket through the Hungarian railways: jegy.mav.hu/ Indicate you have an interrail/eurail pass as discount card for all passengers when making a booking.

Are you talking about reservations for travelling with eurail? It would be usefull for which trains you are trying to buy a reservation. Then when can tell you where you can purchase an electronic reservation.

For nearly all trains, you can make electronic reservations on line elsewhere. Check out https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Hi Schelte,

Thank you for reaching out. The link you sent is helpful. Using the link, we read that we can  use our eurail pass to purchase our tickets. We added the MAV app and attempted to book our train and it went smoothly until we got to the payment. It does not indicate that we can use our eurail  pass. Does this happen automatically or the price without our purchased aural pass? Thank you for your assistance.

The reservation price for a bed in a double sleeper on that train should be 40€ per person. You need to add interrail/eurail when adding the passengers under Discount in order to get just the reservation.

Click on add passengers, fill in the birthday and then click on add discounts. Search for Eurail and select either of the options. Once you do this, you should get a reservation for €40 per person in a sleeper compartment.

Hi Schelte. Thank you so much for the screenshots. We were not clicking on the feature “add discounts” which is where we got into trouble. Your help was invaluable- thank you! Using eurrail going from Zagreb, Croatia to Split, the site says it may be sold out and that there are other ways to book. We have gone onto these sites and  they have been unhelpful. Do you have a suggestion on how we can book a 0045 night train from Zagreb to Split?

@elanais If that is the one operated by the croatian railway you can only purchase reservation by email or at a station. The email is rezervacije@hzpp.hr and they understood english when i contacted them. It can take some time to get a response.

If you are short on travel days with a flex pass this a relativly cheap ticket (arround 15€ + reservation) to just buy (which is possible online)

In my case i was stupid enough to try it when only one couchette was left → which ended up with me having to change my plans a bit because kind of expected it got booked before i was able to reserve it (in my case i knew it was risky, but i was like i can try it and if it does not work i just do something different)

Just a small warning when i took that train, the couchette car i was in did not have AC, but as it was cold the opening windows were really nice. (in the summer this might be a bit uncomfartable if the nights are hot)

Marvin, thank you for sharing your experience booking a couchette. Given the heat wave in Europe, as you say, it is wise to think about the temp when booking a couchette on the train.
