icloud hide my email/rail planner app

Hi, when I signed up to interrail/rail planner app/community ( sometime ago)and purchased the global pass, it appears, at the time I used the iPhone/cloud  feature ‘hide your email’. Unfortunately, being a senior and not tech savvy, I thought this was a good idea, not realising that I can’t log in with my current (normal) email address to change my password and update my details, with my new phone. Fortunately, I have been able to find out that I don’t need to log in to rail planner app, it recognises me and I’ve been able to add my pass to it, what is worrying me now though,  is what happens if there is a glitch with the app and I need to reinstall it, will it still remember me? I’m guessing so, as it’s probably linked to my phone/icloud. I just wish I’d kept it simple and not hidden my email address. With that said, taking into account that I’ve already bought my pass and added it to the rail planner app (but not activated yet), is there someway of changing this hidden email address so that I could use my own that I can easily remember? Thanks

I guess you signed up to the Interrail website and this community with your Apple login. Is that correct?  I'm not sure what the function “hide your email” does in that case. However, the Rail Planner app does not have a login. You can use it just like that. For some functions, it will ask the same code you use to unlock your phone.

Reinstalling the app does not remove your data and after that the app should work just like before.

The app does not need your e-mail address, so whatever you do with your e-mail is not going to make a difference in the app.

You can use the app to log into your Interrail account, but that's only useful (though not necessary) if you've booked reservations on the Interrail website, which is not recommended. Instead, use this page as a guide:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Did you create a new account to post this and do you now have 2 accounts? If so, you could ask customer service how to get access to your first account.

You can find the email address you used.

On an iPhone or Mac, go to Settings and click on your name at the top. The scroll down to find ‘Sign in with Apple’ and it will show all the websites where you've used this feature, and the corresponding email addresses.

Thank you both so much for your assistance. I am getting totally confused. The ‘hide my email’ function is a privacy feature that creates unique, random email aliases and then forwarding replies and messages to your personal inbox. It enables user to sign up for services, apps, whilst protecting digital identity. Great in theory, but from what I have read this weekend, it’s a nightmare if you forget the aliases details. Has this been my problem, I don’t know.

I have looked at the passwords in iCloud and it is the ‘hide my email’ address which is shown in the Rail Planner app on my new phone. However, iCloud states that it was only generated on 24/5/26 which incidentally is the day I bought my new iPhone and transferred everything over, including adding my global pass to the app. However, I bought my global pass last June in the sale and assumed I had used my everyday xxxxx @gmail account, where my pass was sent to and where interrail.eu sends updates to. I had no problem changing my password a few weeks ago due to the data breach, but this weekend it has not been that simple.

The app on my iPhone says Rail Planner,  when I open it I can see my pass and when I click bottom right (more) it shows my name, and when I go into my account it shows the alias email address that was generated by iCloud. This app also gives me the option to log out l, which I don’t want to do, in case I can’t get back in. I’m confused when you say you don’t need to login to the rail planner app when there is a log out function?

@Barbara Herbert The login in the app is only to have access to your seat reservations (if purchased from interrail) in the app. Its not relevant for the pass itself.

I'm usually not logged in in the Rail Planner app because it doesn't serve any purpose for me. I can still use my pass without any problems.

If you used Apple’s “Hide My Email,” your Eurail account is tied to that hidden email, not your normal one. If you reinstall the app, you’ll probably need to log back in the same way (Sign in with Apple) to access your pass.

It is a good idea to check your iPhone iCloud settings to find that hidden email, save screenshots or details of your pass, and contact Eurail support to see if they can switch it to your normal email before you activate it.

If e-mail to the hidden e-mail address is delivered to your mailbox, then you don't need to change your e-mail, address to be able to activate your pass.
