Any good ideas what i could use my remaining 2 travel days for. Most likely over a weekend (maybe taking a day or two off to allow for more options)

I would start the trip from Karlsruhe (Germany) with regional trains(only have 1 in/outbound day left). For Switzerland and for regional trains in grand est(region of france) i am already covered.

One of those days is an in/outbound day. (I kind of have a use for that one already if i want to get home an hour or so quicker ) Any good ideas, i was considering Paris, northern italy or maybe something in Austria.

I still have time until 28. July to use them.

It really depends *a lot* on your preferences, so it’s a bit hard to generalise.

I did a couple of weekend trips from Ireland because I had no work leave remaining, but I had travel days remaining.  For one of them I flew to Germany on a cheap flight (tricky to find on a Friday evening after work, but possible) and did a blitz of a few things I wanted to see, including Vienna for the first time in decades and Bregenz for the first time ever.  Another weekend involved getting the ferry to Liverpool, arriving Saturday morning, spending 2 days blitzing around the UK and then returning on Sunday evening.

Are you looking for deeply nerdy once-a-month-routes, or epic pass-through-7-countries-in-a-day routes?  Are you willing to fly to get started, or will it be train from Karlsruhe on Friday evening?

I could start from Karlsruhe at like 13:00 on Friday this week. I also have something planned in Interlaken on Friday 24.7 so i could also start from there in the Evening or on the next morning. But i definitly plan to start by train.

Last weekend i went to colmar(with a friend) and afterwards to Solothurn and visited the Aares gorge on the next days. Which was great. On the way back i even did a short stop in Bern.

I am also open to interesting or unique trains and routes.

Usually my go to destination for left over travel days is switzerland, but i have couple weekend trips planned already and i already have a valid ticket for switzerland this month. (which covers more transportation then Interrail)
