I want to use my last inbound/outbound journey and was wondering if it would be possible to take a train from basel(switzerland) to cologne(germany) in the morning and in the evening another traon from cologne(germany) to freiburg(germany) or basel(sweitzerland). My country of residence is germany and I have only one inbound/outbound journey left.

But I would be able to add this trains to my interrail pass?

Yes you would. The app won't complain.

The inbound/ outbound journey is supposed to be a single journey from the border station (or port/ airport) to any destination in your country of residence.

Going from Basel to Köln and then back to Basel would fall foul of this, and could potentially leave you with a problem with the ticket inspector.
