I'm planning to go UK, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria. May I know which of the above will provide food inside the train? And which services?

UK long distance operators are your best bet here. On LNER and Avanti, you’ll get a meal appropriate to the time of day, including alcohol. Slightly less on CrossCountry, East Midland Trains - more likely to be a sandwich and a bag of crisps.

A light meal on the Eurostar to/ from London. Nicely presented, and including wine etc.

Nothing included in France or Switzerland.

In Italy you usually get Prosecco or coffee and a small snack on the Frecciarossas.

On the Railjets in Austria, you can order from the restaurant to your first class seat, but you have to pay. You can also sit in Business Class (which is above first class) for an extra supplement. This gets you a bigger seat, in a semi-private cabin, with drinks included, but no food.

Only the UK on a few mainlines. Otherwise you may get at seat service but you'll have to pay for the food.

You mainly choose 1st class for bigger seats and less crowded trains. Food is just a bonus.

And you can use first class lounges in the UK (but not the Eurostar lounge) and Austria with a rail pass. It’s not worth getting to the station early for these, but they are OK places to wait, with coffee & tea etc.
