Hallo Zusammen

Here's a quick update: I was able to make a reservation yesterday for June 24th from Prague to Basel on the Euronight train.

Unfortunately, the connection from Bucharest North to Budapest is still not reservable, as the system is showing me an error. Is it correct that single or double sleeper compartments can only be reserved on-site at the station? Should I expect that everything is already booked, or has anyone had any experience with this?

It still too early for Bucharest to Budapest on 7 June. It works on earlier dates, e.g. I can book a Single compartment on 7 April.

Yes, I understand, then I'll wait a little longer. There's a connection at 6:24 PM from Bucharest to Budapest, arriving at 8:50 AM. Is it advisable to book with Hungarian Railways rather than Romanian Railways? I emailed them 2-3 months ago but haven't received a reply... And I'm not sure if they mentioned that this train is often delayed... Do you think, or do you know, if the train is delayed by 1-2 hours, that it's better to book with Hungarian Railways because they're more reliable regarding refunds than Romanian Railways?

I have no experience with Romanian railways in this respect. I did once claim compensation from Hungarian railways for a delayed night train (Budapest-Koper) and although they were a bit slow, I received it eventually. Just take into account that they do the refund with a bank transfer in HUF, so it's best to use a bank account that has minimal exchange fees, such as Revolut. Also for booking reservations in a currency other than euro, it's a good idea to use a card that has minimal exchange fees.
