Interrail Night Train - App Marked 2 Travel Days, Why?

I'm planning a night train journey soon and have a question regarding the Interrail mobile app's behavior. I'm hoping some experienced travelers can help me out!
My journey details are: Departure from Budapest-Keleti (19:10 on July 8th) and arrival at Dresden Hbf (05:53 on July 9th).
From what I understood, for direct overnight trains, only one day should be marked as a travel day. However, the mobile app has marked both July 8th AND July 9th as travel days for this specific journey.
I've attached two screenshots.  The first one shows the full journey preview, and the second highlights a potential change point at Břeclav (though the train number seems to continue as EN 40476).
Is this normal behavior? Has anyone experienced something similar or knows why the app might do this? Do I really need to use two travel days, or could this be an app glitch? I plan to contact Interrail support, but wanted to get some community insights first.
Thanks in advance for your help!

These screenshots don't show which travel days have been used. It does show 2 trains, but since they both leave on the same day, only one travel day should be used. The Rail Planner app often shows night trains in 2 parts, but in this case it should not matter.

  1. Could you please go one step back in My Trip and post a screenshot of the journeys of 8 July (and 9 July, if that's there)?
  2. Could you go to My Pass, select your pass and select the latest travel day? What date does it have? If it's 9 July or later, just cancel it by tapping on "Cancel travel day”.

@Eurail Community Moderator Is this problem with split up night trains going to be fixed anytime soon?

No Idea why it takes two travel days. The second leg in the railplanner starts at 23:57 on July 8th.

Try to deactivate the second leg and add it again manually with all the details.

We haven't seen any indication yet that a second travel day has been used.

Dear @rvdborgt

Have you noticed this happening in many cases? If yes, I can look into it and see if I can get more information internally.

I've seen it with many night trains to Italy, Croatia, Poland. This summer it seems to occur more frequently than earlier. Often, only one relation will be shown as direct and other direct carriages will be shown with a change. The trains from Milan and Rome to Siracusa/Palermo (3 night trains and 2 day trains) also have this problem.

At the same time, bahn.de usually shows these relations as direct. My suspicion in such cases is that the problem is not in the MERITS data.

Another example of a split night train posted here:

bahn.de shows it as a direct train.

For Budapest-Dresden-Berlin this has indeed been solved.

However, there are still a lot of other night trains that are not shown as direct. More examples:

  • Budapest-Warsaw
  • Amsterdam-Innsbruck
  • Milan-Palermo

(Checked for today)

I think you should either verify all night trains and through carriages, or (better) look what the root cause is, so this problem will not keep occurring.
