Hello. I'd like to book a train that doesn't appear on Eurail Planner. It's a train that crosses the border between France and Spain. Is it possible to board by selecting a seat on a different website other than Eurail Planner? If so, how do I register the train on Eurail? Thank you in advance.

You can book a train anywhere you like. There are often multiple places where you can book a reservation and you're free to choose. Since the Eurail website adds an extra booking fee (€2 per person and train), it's almost always cheaper to book elsewhere. This page a is good guide to find the best places to book reservations:

https://www.seat61.com/interrail-and-eurail-reservations.htm

Registering the train in the Rail Planner app is always the same, see this page:

https://www.eurail.com/en/eurail-passes/eurail-mobile-pass/getting-started

(In particular "Getting ready to board the train”)

The high-speed trains between France and Spain can be booked on raileurope.com.

However note that trains between Hendaye and San Sebastian are run by Euskotren and Interrail/Eurail passes are not accepted.

The cheapest way to travel is to purchase a Barik card and add credit on it (1-3-5€ if you have multiple journeys planned, i.e. to Bilbao). Each journey costs 50 to 80 cents then.

On a side note: You can’t buy or top up a Barik card in the San Sebastian-Hendaye region. Their card is called Mugi. But Mugi is accepted both in Gipuzkoa (around San Sebastian) and Bizkaia (around Bilbao). Also Barik (issued in the Bilbao region) is accepted in both regions, but you can only buy and top up each card in their “home region”.

Both cards offer an incredible value even for just a single journey bringing down ticket prices from 7/8€ to 2€ or less.

Thank you everyone. I understand very well. Actually, I'm going from San Sebastian to Hendaye, but I couldn't make a train reservation, so I thought I couldn't use Eurail here either. I'll only use the Barik card once, so I think a regular one-way ticket would be fine.

Euskotren is actually in the Rail Planner app, but max. 1 month in advance, since they don't publish timetables long in advance. In Donostia/San Sebastian, you need to choose one of its stops, such as the quite central stop Amara-Donostia.

Thank you. I'm planning a European train trip in December. I'm excited because there are so many different routes I can think of. I see, one month in advance means November. I'll keep that in mind.
