Question

Is the rail Saarbucken - Forbach - Paris included in the France Pass?

I live in Saarbrücken and want to purchase a France Rail Pass to travel to Bordeaux. I'm not sure whether I can use the pass for the Forbach–Paris segment of the ICE/TGV route from Saarbrücken–Forbach–Paris. (I know the Saarbrücken–Forbach segment requires a separate ticket.)

Besides the cost of the pass itself, what other fees do I need to pay? (TGV/ICE reservation fees? Seat reservation fees?)

I'm new to rail passes—thanks in advance for any answers.

A one country pass from France is valid from the border tariff point, not just from Forbach.

You can book a reservation from Saarbrücken to Paris that includes a ticket from Saarbrücken to the border on this page. Do NOT select "Book seat only”. You then need to select the "Passzuschlag One Country Pass” offer, which is €13 in 2nd class or €30 in 1st. A BahnCard gives a discount.

Domestic TGV reservations are €10 or €20, depending on availability, and can be booked on raileurope.com.

Thanks so much for your kind reply!

Let me organize the whole process:

1 buy one country pass (france)

2 order passzuschlag one country pass (from Saarbrucken to Paris)

3 order a ticket with the price (10/20 euros) from Paris to Bordeaux.

Is my understanding right? Thanks again in advance!

Yes that's correct.
