I am planning a trip from Germany to Vienna for 2 nights and then on to Hungary for several nights. At some point on the way back I will travel from Hungary to Linz again for 2 nights and then on the way back to Germany. That's 6 days of travelling, right? So a global pass for 6 days? I live in Germany.

As soon as you board a train a pass day is counted.

There are no 6 day passes: either you get a 5 day one and buy a ticket for the shortest journey or you get a 7 day pass.

Note the mandatory reservations this summer on long-distance trains between Germany and Austria.

If the travels below are the only travels you will make, you have 4 travel days. All days (00.00-23.59 CET) when you board a train, is a travel day.

Germany-Vienna

Vienna-Hungary

Hungary-Linz

Linz-Germany
