Hello all. need to take the train. from Ljubljana to split, Croatia. We can take the day train but does not get there until 10;30 pm. Which is ok for us if the scenery will be nice. Or should we take the night train that would get there before noon. Lastly Does anyone know if the first-class seats fold down for sleeping and/or are they in separate cabins. thanks.

If you take the night train i would recommend booking atleast couchette (or sleeper). Its not a fast train during the day (from Zagreb to Split the train is slower then a Bus). And i would recommend taking the night train on that route. You will still have a bit of a view in the morning.
On that route the night train is a good option as it is a slow line and the days trains are not much faster then the night trains.
There are no first class seats on the night train and also on the croation day train i am not sure if it even has first class. For which date do you have that journey planned
Ok. so, go direct to OBB site to reserve seat or sleeper right? I believe we bought more days than we need so were ok with the two days. Do I need to turn on the seat reservation checkmark if we book from Ljubljlana, for seats to Duvova? Sorry for all the questions. Im starting to get these things figured out.. Most of the trains from Ljujana to Dobova are trains without seat reservation. So you only need to activate the journey in the pass (or in case you find out that you have a better use for that travel day just buy the cheap ticket from the slovenian railway(not from öbb))
But yes go to ÖBB for the night train.
