Too early to reserve seats for this journey? Would prefer the 06:22 to 15:50 one but first part of journey not valid on pass. 07:57 to 19:50 second choice. Thanks!

Iryo can't be used with a pass yet. The first option would also be quite expensive:

Iryo: €10/13 (when pass is valid)

TGV 1: €25

TGV 2: €10/20

Total between €45 and €58

Second option would be:

AVE: €10/13

TGV: €10/20

Total: between €20 and €33.

Reservations (except for Iryo, see above) should already be available on raileurope.com.

Hi all

So I am still undecided between the following routes on 07 Oct:

  1. 07:27 to 19:50 (3 transfers)
  2. 07:57 to 19:50 (4 transfers)

I have observed I cannot book the whole route on Rail Europe. It only lists the 13:18 to 21:36 route daily?

Should I rather book all the individual legs of this journey in options 1 or 2 above?

Thank you

If you're using the Rail planner app or the Eurail website to plan: please don't do that. They're not reliable enough to plan and in this case, they propose an impossible 5-minute change in Girona, involving walking from the high-speed station to the regional station. They're next to each other but 5 minutes is too short. @Eurail Community Moderator Could you please look into that? Bahn.de doesn't propose that, which is only sensible.

Indeed you can't book option 1 or 2 in one go on Rail Europe because the regional trains in the middle can't be booked: they don't have reservations. You can book the other trains separately though.

I'd take the 7:27 direct to Girona 11:32: €10 in 2nd, €13 in 1st class or €23.50 with the premium option (1st class with breakfast). Rail Europe will pre-select the cheapest, which is 2nd class, so change that if you want 1st class.

Then the 12:18 from Girona to Cerbère 13:26 and Cerbère 14:20 to Narbonne 15:52 (no reservations possible).

Narbonne 16:59 to Lyon 19:50, which can already be booked.

Thanks, that sound more achievable.

Interesting transfer by foot between the Spain/France borders at Cerbere.

I however only see 12:48 to 13:56  times between Girona and Cerbere (Spain) on the Eurail planner?

Narbonne appears to be 17:00 to 19:50….

Please tell me if I am not looking at the correct information.

Thanks!

Hm, my bad probably. I think I might have looked at Sunday 7/9 instead of Tuesday 7/10. On the latter date it's indeed Girona 12:48 to Cerbère 13:56. Departure from Narbonne is 17:00.

The "transfer by foot” in Cerbère is just from one platform to another.
