Because my wife can’t fly, we want to get the train from London to milan. Leave 31/8/25 and return 14/9/25.
I’ve tried to look on the site but am struggling to find the options I want. I don’t know which type of pass I need for the trip. Needs to be a direct route as well, as we are going to tour Italy by car in between.

There's no direct route, but you can charge once at Paris (need to cross Paris) or go via Lille and Lyon, which is two changes but easieri. You don't need a pass if that's your only journey. It'll probably be cheaper to buy ordinary tickets.

That's useful to know but I forgot to mention we will need to do the return trip by train as well. Therefore is it still better to buy tickets separately?
Have a look at Trainline or Rail Europe for prices from Paris or Lille to Milan. (Generally I don't recommend booking through these sites, but it's a good way to get prices)
And then look for the Eurostar from London to Paris or Lille.
That gives you the return cash price.
Now compare it with the cost of the pass +mandatory reservations. €30 each way for Eurostar, €31 for the TGV to Milan (more in first class).
