Multiple trains on the same day

I am traveling in Norway and would like to have a day where we hop off and visit areas and then hop back on. Do I make reservations for each leg?

You'll need to have a reservation each time you use a train with mandatory reservations.

You didn't say for which trains though, and whether they indeed have mandatory reservations.
