You should expect that trains often delayed or cancelled, especially in Germany. Install the apps of the train companies to find alternative connections.

Apart from this great forum, there are Interrail groups on Facebook. Also see the website https://www.seat61.com

Have a great time.

Looks like a great trip! :)

I'll mention engineering works on the Brenner route. On 18th August RJs seem to start in Verona but I'm not sure it is the definitive timetable. Perhaps consider a Verona - Innsbruck Flixbus as ÖBB said themselves that they won't operate a bus replacement.

Between Amsterdam and Strasbourg/Colmar you've got plenty of options: either the expensive Eurostar through Paris, the direct Brussels-Strasbourg TGV or slower options through Luxembourg or Germany. I seem to remember works on the Belgian high-speed line too -> limited capacity and 30-45 min longer journey. You should book high-speed trains in advance.

Just adding one other option: regional trains from Amsterdam to Lille, via Antwerp and Ghent. If you avoid international high speed trains from/into France, and use regional services, you can save quite a bit of seat reservation money doing this. Just a slightly longer travel time.

From Lille you can get to Strasbourg/Colmar directly, or via Paris.

Antwerp, Gent (and maybe Bruges) and Lille are also well worth a visit on your way down from Amsterdam to Colmar ;)
