New and Confused about seat reservations

It's my first time in Europe.  My family of 4 is traveling from Salzburg to Roma on April 13.  The train leaves Salzburg at 8:56 goes to Woergl Hbf (seat recommended) from Woergl Hbf to Bologna Central (seat recommded), Bologna Central 16:37 to Roma Termini 18:40 (seat reservations required) and finally Roma Ostiense to Roma S. Pietro.  Seeing this I bought the seat reservations from Bologna Central to Roma Termini.   Does this mean that I automatically will be able to get on the other trains or is it possible we won't be allowed on the other trains if we don't have seat reservations.  For example, I tried to get a seat reservation from Woergl Hbf to Roma Termini but I was unable to because it looked like the train was full.  Does this mean that I won't be able to do that leg of the journey and if so do I have to find a different way to get to Bologna Central by 16:37

You can board all the trains with optional seat reservations without having one. But as it is a Sunday, it is very likely that you have to stand for hours. The international trains between Austria and Italy are very popular.

Additionally, a 10€ supplement (15€ in first class) applies for Eurail passholders on the trains between Austria and Italy (pretty much unique in Europe).

You can buy the supplement and the reservations on https://shop.oebbtickets.at/de/ticket?cref=oebb-header. Set Interrail/Eurail - Globalpass as a discount. There are still seats available on your travel date.
