My family and I want to travel from Freiburg Germany to Rome. We have kids and would like to travel over night sleeping. How can we book this

This journey is fairly doable in a day through Switzerland (changes in Zurich and Milan).

The best night train for your itinerary is Munich - Rome (operated by Nightjet). It leaves Munich at around 8pm and gets in Rome at 10am. You can reach Munich in a couple hours from Freiburg (change in Karlsruhe or Mannheim), have dinner there and then board the night train. :)

This route uses NJ2 carriages. More details can be found here: https://www.seat61.com/trains-and-routes/nightjet-new-generation.htm

Tickets and reservations are available as far as 13th June for now. For later dates check again in a few weeks.

As far as i am aware there is no night train from Freiburg to Rome. What is your planned route from Freiburg to Rome?

(The only real night trains i know of from Germany to italy are starting in Munich. There is also a night train going Milano to Rome)
