Hi Community. We are thinking of taking the night train to Zagreb in late May this year. I have read on this forum that I should book the sleeping car using tickets.oebb.at. Is this the best option? Would appreciate input re Zagreb as we have never been to Croatia. Was thinking of taking the train to Split. Not sure of what to do next. As always, would appreciate your advice.

Zagreb isn't the most interesting Croatian city but you'll probably go through there at some point anyway.

Feel free to continue to Split and the coast afterwards.

The Zurich - Zagreb night train is very convenient and the best way by far to link Switzerland and Croatia.

Book in advance through ÖBB yes. Nightjet.com should work too. Don't forget to add Interrail/Eurail as a discount.

A double sleeper compartment should come at around 219€. Couchettes in a shared compartment would be cheaper.
