Hi,
I would like to reserve a sleeper cabin for two on the NightJet on Sunday Oct 15 between Hamburg and Innsbruck. But it is only possible to make seat reservations. Does anybody kniw why?

They are likely sold out. It is the start of the autumn holidays in Hamburg and night trains are very popular anyway.
Alternative : night train to Zurich (22:07 - 10:05), it has couchettes and sleepers available. Book through nightjet.com. The following morning either a new pass day or a cheap advance ticket on tickets.oebb.at :
