Hi, I am trying to book seats from München to Bologna on 18th july 8.17, 1st class seats.

I understand there is a Brenner pass included, and the seats in the italian connection used to be expensive. But the price is still 442 euro for 5 people.  Am I doing anything wrong, or is it this expensive this year?

It doesn’t seem normal to pay as much for the reservation. If you look on other dates it’s only about 10€.
I looked it up in the OEBB app and in fact it says that standard tickets for RJ 1281 are 0.00€ while Sparschiene (supposed to be cheaper are 58€).
Seems to me like a technical issue, maybe try to get your reservation on DB.

@KAJ

The Brenner line seems to be closed due to engineering works. You should find an alternative route on oebb.at. I see this one:

Try to reserve each leg separately. If no discount for Eurail/Interrail Passes is offered, select “Seat reservation only”.

ÖBB aren't making it easy. I'd probably wait until the replacement timetable via Brenner has been published, but you can book the journey via Schwarzach im Pongau-St.Veit and Venezia Mestre this way:

  1. Book Munich to Venezia Mestre. Use "Seat reservations only”. Price should be €3 per person for the 2 trains together.
  2. Book Venezia Mestre to Bologna without "Seat reservations only” but with the Interrail/Eurail discount. Price should be €13 per person.
  3. Try later for the supplement from Schwarzach im Pongau-St.Veit to Venezia Mestre, or buy it from a ticket office or pay for it on board. Price should be €15 per person in 1st class. You can normally book this online with the with the discount method (as in 2. above) but the ÖBB booking module seems to have a problem at this moment.

Thank you all.

I thought since I this time could book the tickets (I have tried for a while now), that the time table through Brenner was up and ready. So you think the error has something to do with the time table not completed yet?

If you check the details of the journey you selected, then you'll see that this is not via Brenner. In addition, I'm still seeing local S-Bahn trains from Innsbruck to Brenner while there are supposed to be replacement buses.

I don't think the problem with booking the pass supplement is related to the engineering works, but you never know of course.

Side note: you're not booking tickets. The pass is your ticket and you're only booking reservations and a supplement.
