how do I activate my pass on the first day of travel? Do I just board the train and what do I have to show that I have the pass? I am entering 2 travelers on the pass, do we each get a pass or is one pass good for both

Each person has their own pass.

The pass needs to be activated before you board the first train. In addition, you also need to add that train to your pass before you board.

See this page for the steps needed:

Thank you, both of the links were helpful. Can you bear with another question please. I’m wondering how long it would take to get a paper pass delivered to the U.S.? I’m not much of a technology person and not sure I could master the app and everything that goes with that

You can see the delivery date if you go through an order on Eurail.com

It's laughably slow. Just a quick check suggests 9 April if you order today! (Though I assume it would be quicker in reality.)

I don't know if any of the agents in the US can despatch locally.

I feel like the mobile pass is easier to use (but it comes with the requirement for an internet connection atleast once a day.)

In my opinion the complicated part about using the Interrail/eurail pass is booking mandatory reservation.

Thanks for the responses. I guess this old dinosaur is going to have to figure out how to do things electronically and not the reliable old way with a paper ticket in hand
