I have bought a flexi pass for 10 days over 2 months .However the pass won’t let me activate it until the 1st of September in the app. Obviously not very helpful since I’m in Spain now.

You bought the promotional pass? It was clearly stated that it can only be used from the 1st of september. Guess you’ll have to exchange it for an ordinary pass.
