Hello,

I would like to know if i can purchase a train ticket the day before or even on the same day. What I mean is, let me give you an example: I decide to change my itinerary at the last minute. Can I use my travel days freely, or do they have to be booked in advance?

I’m not sure if with the app i “buy” a train ticket or just generate a general ticket that it is possible to use for every train route, like a passepartout.

Example of what i need:

I want to go from A to B on the 18th of july. i manage to plan this on the app but on the 17th of july (or even 18th morning) i change my mind and i have to go from point A to point C. Can i do so?

Really thanks for your help.

In Great Britain, reservations aren’t compulsory (except for Eurostar and sleeper trains), so there’s no problem doing that. You can just turn up, add a train to your pass, and get on.

If you do decide you want a reservation, you can get one for free at a ticket office in the UK, or online from gwr.com (see instructions here). No need to pay.

Yes, you can do that.

Interrail pass is your ticket, it is valid for unlimited travel. You must add any train you take but this can be done at any point up to departure and can be changed as much as you wish.

Mandatory reservations are required for some trains in addition to the pass which limits flexibility somewhat but the good news for you is that trains in Britain do not have mandatory reservations and it is one of the best countries for flexible travel.
