I am traveling this summer and I need to either make a trip from budapest to wien or to muenchen. I tried changing the date and time but whatever I choose when I try to make a reservation it says that the prices are unavailable.
And I don’t know if there is a simple explnation or a problem can you help me ?

You don’t need a reservation to use Railjet, but you should be able to make one via ÖBB. You need reservations if you use Regiojet.

They said they are travelling in the summer, and in DB's infinite wisdom this does mean that reservations are required for the railjet….

Only if going to Munich, and the reservation can be avoided taking regional bahn in Salzburg
