Hi

is there a general problem with making reservations? I get an error when trying to pay that the “error is on our side”. Same problem on mobile and PC.

At what time would you arrive in Brussels, what’s your travel date?

There are some alternatives via regional trains, including 1 or 2 extra changes via Gent, Kortrijk and Lille or Tournai and Lille. From Lille there are plenty of TGV-trains to Paris, they usually always have seats left on short notice.

You can also buy a normal ticket for the OuiGo (low cost train Brussels-Paris), but not included in interrail. Prices are often (much) cheaper than the reservation cost of the Eurostar Brussels-Paris.

EDIT: Or skip Belgium, and continue to Offenburg in Germany, take a regional train across the border to Strasbourg and reserve a domestic TGV to Paris

You didn't mention where you are trying to book.

The best places for this route are currently tickets.oebb.at and cd.cz (“Reservation only”) for €3, or maybe bahn.de if you're booking multiple trains (€5.50 in 2nd or €6.90 in 1st class per journey)

If that still doesn't work, then please mention date and departure time.

Many trains are fullt booked on that route. You can travel without reservations if you filter on "no seat reservations" in the Railplanner app.

I never experienced problem with buying resevations on the website of the Danish State Railways. On the other hand I never managed to get a resevation on this line on the website of my home carrier ÖBB. Maybe this has changed in the meantime Try https://www.dsb.dk/en/ and go to “Train ticket to Europe” or www.dsb.dk and go to “Biletter til utlandet”. and then select “Buy seat ticket only/Kob kun platsbillet”. The price is 30 Danish crowns.

The problem is that the new website doesn't tell you that the train is fully booked. It sometimes just gives strange error messages after first letting you enter all details of the travellers. The same train shows as fully booked at Česke Drahy.

Thank you all for answering so quickly. Seems like other websites show more detailed booking information and the error message comes because the trains are fully booked. We have now managed to get reservation from Hamburg to Brussels on Sunday 6th of July, but our final destination is Paris. However, it seems we are getting stuck in Brussels because all departuers to Paris are fully booked at least to July 8th. Is it really so that no departures are possible. What can we do?

Why go to Brussels if you want to Paris? You can travel without reservations to southern Germany. The you can take a reservation free regional train over the German-French border. Then you hopefully can find a TGV to Paris.

You can also travel without reservations from Brussels to Paris. Filter on "no seat reservations " in the Railplanner app.

As above, you can route around the expensive and booked-up Eurostars, by taking slow regional trains, or going further south.

Another way to reach Paris is with the Berlin-Paris night train.

You could go from Hamburg to Berlin to pick this up, or you could pick it up in Göttingen at 21:37.

The seats are quite reasonably priced, but the couchettes and sleeping cars are extremely expensive for the 6th (and the only availability is in the female-only accommodation).
