I'm looking for some great places to visit in Austria. Since I'll be traveling by train, I'm specifically searching for scenic mountain areas, cozy towns, or hiking spots that are easily accessible by public transport.

+7I can recommend the area around Dornbirn and Feldkirch. (The guest card you get there if you stay overnight also covers the local public transport)
I can highly recommend the hike through Rappenlochschlucht, Alplochschlucht and then further up the mountain. (The first part through Rappenlochschlucht is popular with many tourist but many of them only walk Rappenlochschlucht, so the rest of it is that comes after it has fewer people)
