Question

Railjet not included in Italy Plus Pass?

Hi there,

I have the Italy Plus Pass (this is a Beta Version which includes reservation fees). My first planned trip is from Brennero to Verona with a RailJet. When I planned the trip, all looked fine, but now the Interrail App says, that this trip is not included in the pass. But it also says, I need to book a supplement, which would be OK. And RailJet, which is a train of Austrian ÖBB, should be included in the pass. But I cannot activate this first trip in the App. Does anybody have an idea, how I can activate the trip?

Thanks, Tom

The train is included, as long as you make a journey within Italy. Please add it manually.

AFAIK the reservation (including the supplement) should be included with the Plus pass for 0 credits and should be bookable on the Interrail website, so you should be able to claim any costs back via customer service:

@Eurail Community Moderator I had reported this problem for the first time in December last year:

What's the status of this issue? When will it be fixed?

Today I received the following answer of the help centre:

Upon checking, I found that Railjet trains are unfortunately not included in the Italy one-country pass. Only holders of the Interrail Global pass are allowed to take Railjet trains.

But I was not able to find these conditions anywhere on the interrail website. In fact, according to this page (https://www.interrail.eu/en/plan-your-trip/tips-and-tricks/trains-europe/railway-companies), Railjet is included.

According to the website of ÖBB Italia (only in Italian and German):
https://www.obb-italia.com/it/angebote/interrail-eurail or
https://www.obb-italia.com/de/angebote/interrail-eurail

on these trains (and the EC134/135 between Trieste Centrale and Villa Opicina) the one-country pass Austria is valid. A surcharge has to be paid. So it makes sense that the one-country pass Italy is not accepted. However on the interrail website as quoted above the Brenner/Brennero railjets are listed both with Austria and Italy.

Customer service is incorrect.

@Eurail Community Moderator Can customer service please be informed that the OCP for Italy is valid in RJ and EC trains within Italy, including the ones from/to Austria? As you know, the operator themselves accept the pass: it's in their conditions.

Hey @rvdborgt. I asked our reservation SME to look into this. Hopefully we'll get some news soon.
